Long time no BLOG!

OMG! The last blog in English was like more than 16 months ago...

That's really a long time, a woman could have gone through the pregnancy period of 9 months, gave birth and the infant is at his crawling stage by now...

What have I been doing?
I had a twist in my lifestyle in terms of my job scope!
I no longer lead as many tours as before, I started to lead a team and I am a MANAGER!!!
hahaha! Who cares about the title... at least I can't be bothered!

It's a new challenge whereby I am required to train and guide many junior staffs!
I am their so-called step-mother!
Why step-mother? Cos' I am young and beautiful, but scold them a lot! hahahaha!!!

I enjoy leading this cheerful team but at the same time miss my travelling days!
I suppose more time is required for me to get adjusted to this kind of 'stable' lifestyle...

Beside not travelling, the rest of my lifestyle remain unchanged!
ie. taking taxi daily, buying handbags, indulging in luxurious products and good food! and of cos' putting on weight!

My make-up skill has improved, so called 'practice make perfect', as I am required to do so almost everyday! hahaha! Sometimes, I look like panda, at times I look like parrot!
Well, at least I don't look like ghost lah! hahaha!

My writing skill has improved...cos' I need to handle tons of emails daily!
My vocabulary has improved... cos' I browse through dictionary and thesaurus more frequently then before!
My laughters have reduced, cos' I need to be a seriously wicked step-mother most of the time!
My hubby is happy, cos' he doesn't have anymore lonely night alone for the past 8 months!

There is one person I wanna thank.... he's my Baby! He has helped me a lot! Without him I don't think I don't think many things can be done! Thank you very much!

Alright, that's it...
I will try to be back again asap....

hmmm... maybe in another 20 months time... *hopefully not*

Best time to travel...

5 years back during SARS period, when everybody is so worried about being quarantined after the trip, kena infected lah, go overseas and see many people wearing masks or not...
My friends and me decided to go Perth for holiday, a good 10 days trip including self drive to Perth Southwest and a good few days at Perth for shopping.
I still remember the flight we took, we occupied about 4 seats per person...
All the hotels and motels that we checked in are at special walk-in rates, as low as A$40 per person...
Souvenir shops and retail outlets are offering discount as good as 90% discount...
There is no crowd at places of interests and do not need to take photos with plenty of unknown faces around us...

Now we have this H1N1 pandemic that everybody is so worry about... it is also actually quite good for people like me who work in travel industry, as we usually do not have such luxury of time to go on such long vacation.

During my last trip to Spain, it really reminds me of my Perth trip 5 years ago....
I have never come across seeing so little people at Sagrada Familiar, no queue at Prado Museum, no queue at Casa Mila & Casa Batllo, even Alhambra Palace is so quiet...
Shopping areas are not crowded and before the actual summer season arrived, boutiques have already started offering discount and sales items, latest design somemore wor...

By the way, I was not being requested to be quarantine or whatsoever as speculated and nobody is wearing masks, except for some Japanese who is quite common even before H1N1 was mentioned.
For the last 2 months, I had travelled to Dubai, Russia and Spain, fyi...

Sometimes, I really think that this is the best time to travel and if you have always been busy and needed a break desperately...

As for me...
I am so looking forward to my next holiday ~ Japan...

I managed to get a deal of $584 per air ticket including all relevant taxes flying on SQ A380 flight both ways to Narita, just log on to www.singaporeair.com and you will be able to find some other attractive deals...

Zaragoza.... long time no see!

Yesterday had been a tiring 24 hours with about 15 hours flight time including a short stopover at Milano and finally arriving at Barcelona...
I didn't get to sleep until about 4am Singapore time and had bearly catch a 6 hours rest and my alarm rang for this morning wake up call! urrrrrr!

Upon arrival, as usual city tour has to be commenced and I started off with Plaza de Catalunya where is usually my last stop of the tour during past trips...

I have mixed feeling when I was sitting under a shade infront of some stalls as this is usually my last stop and has now become my beginning point!

At the same time, I kinda miss someone who travelled with me not too long ago to this same place, cos' at least with him around I am not alone...

Everywhere we had been the last time reminds me, I can still kind of hate my job for a moment...

Sigh... looks like it is the sign of aging and now I have started to have phobia of being lonely!

hahaha...

Today we drove almost 600km from Barcelona to Segovia passing through the city of Zaragoza at the province of Aragon...

I once remembered a customer who enquired tour at the counter and insisted that she must visit Zaragoza during her trip to Spain...

Out of curiousity, I quiry her if she had any special reason why it is a must to come to this town and the answer I got was "I want to buy Zara!" wahahahahaha :)

To tell you the truth, even my toes were laughing during that moment....

Anyway, friends of mine out there reading this blog, please note that Zara is everywhere in Spain and you need not visit Zaragoza for it!

Zaragoza has not changed since the last time I had visit her about 3 years ago with Kym.

But I must say that the amount of work done to restore the old buildings were indeed very impressive cos; they were the host of World Expo 2008.

Goya is still standing stylishly at the square and Lonja has now become brighter in colour...

I used to stay in the city when I did tour lead to Spain 10 years ago and I can still remember those moments when I needed to search within those small lanes in the old town to look for restaurante, handled customers when I stayed in a lousy hotel in town, shopping at El Corte Ingles for my first pair of Burberry shoe, trying to figure what the hell my guide was talking about as he was speaking fluent 'Spanglish'!

Not sure when will I be back again, but I really hope to have a chance again to stay in this city that is memorable to me...

See ya, Zaragoza!
Adios!

Ready for departure again!

To answer some of the requests from my friends, here I am, trying to update my English blog more frequently... hehe :P

I just got back home for less than 10 days and am ready for the next group departure tonight to my 2nd home ~ Spain!

It is definitely not my first time going to Spain for tour lead, but it is the first time I am flying with Singapore Airlines to Barcelona via Milan.
SQ will be using the latest flight Boeing777-300ER and I hope they don't change, as I have heard a lot about this aircraft being more spacious and has a bigger individual screen for all classes of passengers....

When I travel on SQ, I love to fly to long haul destination, if possible, more than 10 hours flight... cos' I can enjoy 1 or 2 movies and still at the same time catch my beauty sleep!

Gonna be summer in Spain now and I am going to sweat till I dehydrate...
But on the other hand, it is the best time to shop at Spain, cos' summer mah! hahaha :)

Zara, Desigual, Camper, Mossimo Dutti, Loewe.... wow! Money not enough wor.... sigh :(
I am telling myself not to over spent this trip as I have an upcoming expensive holiday in July
~ 12 days Japan with my best friend...
After I returned from Japan, I should be declaring bankrupt and eat bread with plain water everyday! hahahahaha :P

Alright, catch up with you again in 11 days time...

Russia...

Just returned from my first tour leading assignment of 2009
~ 10 Days Russia, with 22 wonderful passengers...
Weather had been a bit unkind to us on the first 2 days of the trip, as it had been raining and affected very much on our mood during our sightseeing in Moscow, especially Kremlin.
But looks like our prayers were answered and warm sunshine was smiling at us when we arrived at St Petersburg...

The lovely tulips and other beautiful flowers makes this time of the year one of the best time to see Russia...
The renowned Peterhof Grand Cascade fountain is maximum grandeur as those golden sculptors accompanied by dancing water fountain is a good example of genius mankind for such great architecture.
It is definitely a-must-visit sightseeing place at St Petersburg.

Lastly, thanks to my 22 kind passengers who have been very forgiving and understanding during the tour upon meeting some hiccups along the way.

It is really my pleasure to have all of you onboard and really look forward to have the opportunity to go on another trip again in the near future.

Take care and see you!

Keep Discovering Dubai!

Just returned from a short 4 days 3 nights trip to Dubai..
Before departure, there were a lot of imagination about this country as I had watched and read too much about many amazing architectures and project built in this small country.
Indeed when I arrived, I was very much impressed by the airport new terminal... it is spacious and very modernly designed.
When I arrived into the city, the amount of skyscrapers makes me wonder if Dubai is really situated on a desert!
At certain angle, I thought Dubai resembles a bit of Manhatten at New York!
Dubai is a country who constantly want to be a record holder,
for example:
The tallest hotel in the world standing 333m high ~ Burj Al Arab Hotel, opened in 2004
The biggest shopping mall in the world ~ Dubai Mall, just opened
The tallest tower in the world of over 600m~ Burj Dubai, schedule to open in September
The longest automatic train in the world of 14km in length
The largest theme park in the world ~ Dubailand, schedule to open in 5-8 years time
My God, what is Dubai thinking?
They built flowers and plants on sand, making use of thousands of black water tubes underneath the ground.
They built air-conditioned bus stop for the locals as it is too unbearably hot in summer.
They built the largest water fountain in the world of over 260m long at Dubai Mall.
They have about 250 hotels in this small country..
They have about 50 5-stars hotels...
They reclaimed lands to create The Palm Island, not one but three!!!
They are now working on creating The World on reclaim land...
They have more than 80% of their population foreigners from all over the world...
They have no more natural resources ~ oil!
They have so many construction sites going on everywhere in the city...
They have one of the worst pollution in the city...
Is it worth going to Dubai?
Very subjective, either you love or hate it, no in between!
Love for architects and shoppers...
Hate for poor tourists who are on budget holiday, cos' it is not cheap everywhere!
Keep Discovering Dubai!

A joke to cheer myself up!

Lately not very happy...
Happen that Evelyn send me this joke, and I think it is quite funny!
Enjoy!

PhotoScape...

Today was kind of 'bo liao' at home... don't really like off day on Saturday cos' most of the TV program is boring and nothing much to look forward...

You cannot imagine I watched the same episode of a Taiwanese show for 3 times within a day!
Well... I did something else lah... I clear some of those old clothing in my cabinet to make room for those new clothes that I have been buying lately before my hubby start nagging at me! hehe...

Meanwhile, I also have been playing with PhotoScape and I am quite good at it wor...
I manage to combine many photos together and put many other 'thingy' onto the pix, quite fun!
Just to share one of those that I have done and like it very much...
I did this is because the photos of this trip is really nice, make me look slimmer lah...
hahaha...
It's all about visual effect...
